100g - Natural Nettle Yarn

This beautiful Wild Nettle yarn is grown, processed & hand spun in the Himalayan Mountains of India. Spun with love by women artisans working together in creative 'clusters'. The yarn is already quite soft and soften more with washing & wear.

The nettle or bicchu grows as a wild undergrowth in Almora and Chamoli regions of India. The villagers in these regions extract fibre from the plant stems. This fibre has a unique lustre to it and the yarn lends an uneven brown texture to the products.

By buying this product you helping to support these women in their every day lifes as well as supporting the continuation these traditions that are now also becoming rare in India.

As this is a natural product it may vary in colour - I will always try to send the most similar in colour hanks unless adviced otherwise.

Thank you!
